In this fantasy, an unknown being uses the power of Jenova and manifests the geostigma, a disease that slowly corrupts and rots the lifestream, the soul of our planet. Meanwhile, the heroes of our world have all encountered what they had thought to be their final battles all at once. Shortly after they believed they were victorious, they find that strange,unknown portals of darkness have been appearing throughout the world at random and monsters unlike any they had ever encountered before began pouring out. The heroes figure that it must be the work of a new evil, unlike any other and the only way to return the world to the way it was, they had to defeat it. Upon entering, the portals close behind them and they find the land of Terra to be a shell of what it once was and their greatest enemies were now its rulers...
